mtvU Woodie Award-winning MC Machine Gun Kelly, widely known to his legion of fans as MGK, is set to release his heavily anticipated new mix tape Black Flag later this month exclusively on LiveMixtapes (livemixtap.es/blackflag). The Cleveland, Ohio native, known for his explosive, full throttle and highly participatory live performances, will continue to change the landscape on how music and culture is viewed with the album quality mixtape. The project, dedicated to his love of music and his vow to never surrendering it, will showcase his rapid-fire delivery and his ability to amalgamate his favorite genres: hip-hop, heavy-metal and rock ‘n’ roll.
“2013 has been incredible so far, in large part due to my fans avid support,” said MGK. “Black Flag is a state a mind, a military inspired project, to spark a revolution of change that brings fresh ideas to the forefront.”
To build anticipation from his die-hard fans, MGK is releasing a series of eleven “strikes” or video updates leading up to the release of the mixtape, which will feature information on Black Flag. The “strikes” will include key information and bonus goodies such as behindthe-scenes footage, the release date, hints of the mixtape’s track listing and the mixtape itself. Fans will not know which “strike” will be the actual release of Black Flag as each strike is based on a coded military term that relates to the content being released. To date, MGK has released two “strikes” titled Operation: Acoustic Intelligence and Operation: Scream, the latter, featuring a cover of legendary alt-rock band Limp Bizkit’s “Rollin’” whichco-premiered on tastemaker site Mass Appeal. Signed to EST 19XX/Bad Boy/Interscope Records, MGK has had a busy year. Aside from being signed to NEXT Model Management as a fashion and editorial model, he was recentlybestowed the Woodie of the Year honor at the 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards, which he cohosted with Teagan & Sara. In addition, he was a contributing factor to the Cleveland Cavaliers winning an EMMY at the 44th Annual Lower Great Lakes Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Emmy Awards ceremony. The winning video, honored for Best Promotion of Program Sports, features MGK performing his hit “Invincible.” When he’s not garnering or assisting in winning awards, MGK is touring nationwide, performing cuts from his debut album, Lace Up.
